Mullen has been awarded the School of Excellence for the 2008-2009 school year. The following criteria is used in determining whether a school achieves this award:
1. Make Annual Yearly Progress (AYP)
2. Be Fully Accredited by the State
3. Achieve an overall score of 90 out of 100 points on the Strategic Plan based on meeting targets set on an annual basis.
